Arsenal have announced the biggest commercial deal in
British football history after confirming Puma will be their new kit
supplier.
Puma Deal 'Huge Step Forward For The Club Off The Pitch' |
Arsenal CEO Ivan Gazidis was delighted with the news.
"We are excited to be partnering with PUMA. It represents another important step forward in Arsenal's progression on and off the pitch," he told the club's official website.
The deal with Puma ends Arsenal's long association with Nike, who have manufactured the club's official kit for the last 20 years.
Bjoern Gulden, chief executive officer for Puma said: "Arsenal have been a key strategic target for Puma for a number of years now.
"Through a clear commercial vision, a well-defined sports marketing strategy and a relentless enthusiasm within the PUMA organisation, we're proud to have signed this partnership with a truly global football club."
Meanwhile, Gazidis has revealed that manager Arsene Wenger will be staying at the Premier League club beyond the end of this season.
The Frenchman, who has been with the Gunners since 1996, has been reluctant to publicly commit his future to the Emirates outfit beyond the end of the current campaign.
But Gazidis has provided the first confirmation from the club that the 64-year-old would be extending his Arsenal career into a 20th season, saying: "We have always supported Arsene.
"The board has always been completely behind him as has (owner) Stan Kroenke, and Arsene has always been committed to this football club.
"So we are comfortable with the position, we are relaxed about it. Arsene will be extending with us. And at the right time we will make that announcement.
